 User's Guide - Announcements

This is where you can place an announcement about anything that you would like the public to know about, such as birth announcements, wedding or even some kind of special event about your business.

In order to add an announcement, you will need to login to your User Control Panel and click on the Announcements icon that is circled in this image:

After clicking the Announcements icon, you will see text like this: 

Click on the "Submit a new announcement" and you are on your way to letting the public know of your upcoming event. Then you will see a screen like this to enter your announcement details:

Topic: This is where you choose from one of our categories in which your announcement will be displayed. Should you need additional topics, please    contact us.

Title/headline: This is what is viewable before clicking to read the actual details of your upcoming event. Please keep this part limited to no more than a few words. Maximum characters is 150. So that you can see how much you can put in the Title/headline; this is what 148 characters look like:

Before you go to bed, don't forget to pray and turn all of your worries over to your Heavenly Father, because He is going to be up all night anyway.

Short text: This should be a brief overview of the first few paragraphs of the announcement, if it is lengthy. Some people like to use this as sort of a teaser to encourage the reader to want to read the rest. You can do this by adding three dots like this...

Extended Text: From there, you can write out the full announcement in this extended text area. This would be displayed when a visitor is interested in your announcement and it would have more details. To read this section, the reader will click on the"Read more" for the rest of the information you entered.

To make your announcement more interesting or easier to read, there is some coding listed on the right side of the Announcement Detail page to highlight any part that you want to stand out and be noticed. This coding can also be used to link to your business listing or any other listing that you make. To learn more on how to use these codings, please visit our sister website by  clicking here. The coding in the Announcements plug-in appears similar to this when you are typing it:

Use the following codes to apply formatting to your article:

Make text appear bold

Make text appear italicized

Make text appear underlined

Retain spacing/formatting of text

Insert an image

Insert a hyperlink

[QUOTE]Quoted text[/QUOTE]
Quote text from another message

Create a bulleted list; use [*] for each bullet

When you have finished creating your announcement, click the 'Submit Annoucement' button at the bottom. Your Announcement will then be posted to our site.
